Best location:
To ensure your feathered guests feel safe and comfortable, here are some tips on where to situate your Reclaimed Wooden Birdhouse:
Height: Mount the birdhouse at a height of at least 2-4 meters, ideally on a tree, wall, or a sturdy post. This provides protection from predators and ensures the birds can come and go easily
Direction: Face the entrance hole away from prevailing winds, typically to the north or east, to shield the nest from harsh weather
Shelter: Place the birdhouse in a sheltered location with some cover from nearby branches or shrubs. This provides additional protection and a sense of security for nesting birds
Clear Flight Path: Ensure there are no obstacles directly in front of the entrance hole, allowing easy access and exit for the birds
Privacy: Keep the birdhouse in a quiet and undisturbed part of your garden to minimize disturbances during the nesting season
By providing a welcoming habitat for our feathered friends, you're not only enhancing your garden's beauty but also contributing to the conservation of local bird populations. Purchase our Reclaimed Wooden Birdhouse today and create a haven for the birds that share your natural world. Your support of our not-for-profit mission is greatly appreciated.
About The Wood Shack:
The Wood Shack is one of seven social enterprises operated by JERICHO to help people who face real and significant challenges in getting a job. These could include trauma, insufficient work experience, health & wellbeing needs, education barriers and communication challenges. We do this by giving them a real work opportunity and individualised support to ultimately help them progress into sustainable employment.
Last year, we supported 16 people including five survivors of modern slavery, 100% of those who completed their project progressed into a positive outcome and we generated an estimated £200,000 in social value.
