Product features:

  • Sustainability Meets Beauty: Crafted from reclaimed wood, our Solitary Bee House not only promotes eco-friendly practices but also adds a touch of natural beauty to your outdoor space

  • Perfect for Solitary Bees: Solitary bees, including mason bees, leafcutter bees, and many others, are vital pollinators in the UK. Unlike honeybees, they don't live in colonies but seek safe places to lay their eggs. Our bee house provides individual nesting tubes, making it ideal for solitary bees to lay their eggs and continue their vital pollination work

  • Handcrafted Excellence: Each Solitary Bee House is lovingly handcrafted by our skilled team, ensuring top-notch quality and durability

  • Educational and Fascinating: Installing a solitary bee house in your garden offers a unique opportunity to observe these incredible pollinators up close and learn more about their fascinating life cycle.

Suitable for solitary bees:

  • Solitary bees are essential pollinators, and by providing them with a safe and comfortable nesting place, you're supporting the health of your garden and local ecosystem. Our bee house is designed specifically for solitary bees, making it an attractive choice for those looking to boost pollinator populations.

Best location:

To maximize the effectiveness of your Reclaimed Wooden Solitary Bee House, follow these tips for proper placement:

  1. Sunny and Sheltered: Locate the bee house in a sunny spot where it will receive morning sunlight. Solitary bees are cold-blooded and need the sun's warmth to become active. Ensure it's sheltered from strong winds and rain to protect the nesting tubes

  2. Ground Level: Mount the bee house at ground level or on a low fence or wall. This allows easy access for the bees and keeps the house stable.

  3. Flower Proximity: Plant a variety of nectar-rich flowers nearby to provide a food source for the bees. This encourages them to establish their nests in the bee house and helps sustain their populations

  4. Stable Mounting: Ensure the bee house is securely mounted to prevent swinging or tilting, which could deter bees from nesting

  5. Maintenance: After the bee nesting season (usually in late summer or early autumn), it's important to clean out the bee house to remove any pests or diseases. This helps ensure a healthy environment for the next season's bees.

By welcoming solitary bees into your garden with our Reclaimed Wooden Solitary Bee House, you're playing a vital role in pollinator conservation. Create a pollinator-friendly oasis and enjoy the benefits of increased garden productivity and biodiversity. Order your Solitary Bee House today and make a sustainable impact on your local ecosystem. Your support of our not-for-profit mission is greatly appreciated.

About The Wood Shack:

The Wood Shack is one of seven social enterprises operated by JERICHO to help people who face real and significant challenges in getting a job. These could include trauma, insufficient work experience, health & wellbeing needs, education barriers and communication challenges. We do this by giving them a real work opportunity and individualised support to ultimately help them progress into sustainable employment.

Last year, we supported 16 people including five survivors of modern slavery, 100% of those who completed their project progressed into a positive outcome and we generated an estimated £200,000 in social value.
